First Baptist Church Blood Drive

Barbara Grigg (L) completes her three gallon blood donation and is presented her pin by Colleton County Red Cross Blood Mobile Coordinator Norma Weeks (R). Photo submitted

The First Baptist Church Blood Drive on March 9 brought in 52 pints of blood. The reason there are more pints collected than donors is because when a person donates the double red cells, it is counted as two pints and that donor will have to skip the next blood drive. To be able to donate the double red cell your blood type has to be O-, A-, B-, or O+. You also have to be a certain height and weight. Those that came in were: Scotty Kinard, Virginia Strickland, Jennifer Weeks, Doris Nettles, Ronella Winchester, Jan Cannady, Ernest Cannady, Warren Prentiss, Patrick Brown, Bill Weeks, Christine Silva, Brenda Bristow, Summer White, Olin Bennett, Anthony Colleton, Matt Rentz, Logan Smith, Richard Berry, Robert Langdale, P.A. Pournelle, Terry Pournelle, Vicki Syfrett, Carolyn Rahn, Crystal Bazzle, Mary Corbett, Celeste Stone, Loretta Smith, John Bunch, Susan Bunch, Emily Nettles, Timothy Smyly, Margarite Catterton, Corky Price, Barbara Young, Bruce Murdaugh, Linda Clark, Carroll Griffin, Charles Benton, Harry Pellum, Kathryn Evans, Mike Kuszmaul, Susan Powers, Joe Ritter, Barbara Grigg (3 gallons), Charles Rister and Norma Weeks.

The next blood drive at First Baptist Church will be on May 11, 2015. For information call Norma Weeks at 538-8950.
