Norman Derrell Hand, Jr. is a junior at Colleton County High School. He is the son of Tammy Hand and the late Norman Hand of Walterboro. His grandparents are John Alexander and Linda Payne also of Walterboro. Norman plays football for the Colleton County Cougars. He also plays basketball and is a member of the track and field team. He was named All-State Rookie of the Year for the High School Sports Report. Norman is an Honor Student and has a 3.5 GPA.

What are your top five considerations for college? Ole Miss, North Carolina, University of South Carolina, Purdue and Wake Forest.

Will you be pursuing a sport in college? Yes, I would like to play football.

Have you determined a major or career that you’d like to pursue? I am undecided on a major, but I want to have a career in business management.

What is your dream car? My dream car is a Porsche. It’s fast and different.

Favorite childhood story? Walt Disney’s “The Little Engine That Could” because it is something that always sticks in my mind.

If you could spend 15 minutes with any person who would it be? It would definitely be my Dad.

What is your best personal characteristic? I am very easy-going.

On game day, what song do you listen to? ‘Warning’ by Biggie.

Most important character trait for a coach? Toughness. You have to be tough to achieve the results from your players that you desire.

Ten years from now, what would you like to be doing? I intend on playing professional football.

Which website do you visit every day and why? ESPN. I like to keep up with stats to see who did what.

If you could go to only one restaurant for the next five years, which one would it be? Buffalo Wild Wings. I like hot wings…a lot.

Describe what it is like to play under the lights at Cougar Field. It is a feeling like no other. I still get butterflies on game day, even to this day.

The one television show you watch all the time and hate to miss? I Love Money on VH1.

What is one thing about you that would surprise others? My nickname is Bam Bam (meaning Bambino and baby).
