Walterboro is getting a new outdoor equipment store, with its owner hoping the site will soon be the top sales spot for ATVs, golf carts, tractors and lawnmowers.
“This is basically a guy’s dream for one-stop shopping,” said Phil Breland, owner of the new Lowcountry Equipment Sales and Service store along Bells Highway.
A Ruffin native, Breland says he moved back to Walterboro recently to pursue opening this store. “I’ve had a few businesses along the way, and it’s been my dream for a while to do this,” he said. “There’s nowhere to buy tractors and ATVs in town, and I want to also service all these items for everyone. What we have here really is a place for people to come to get what they want and need, even what we consider ‘toys.’”
Breland says he will sell everything from commercial and residential lawnmowers to power tools to golf carts. The brands of equipment and items that he will carry includes Echo, Honda and Bennche.
The store officially opened to the public on Monday, with a grand opening tentatively slated for Saturday, July 16.
The new 8,000 square foot building is located at 1617 Bells Highway in Walterboro, between the Huddle House and the Shell gas station. The building boasts a new showroom as part of the commercial space and a meet-and-greet front porch for customers. The building was constructed from the ground up, with Breland saying he wants it to be inviting and to become a staple in the local business community.
“We do plan to have some giveaways for customers and for the public who come to the grand opening,” he said.
Lowcountry Equipment Sales and Service is one of several new businesses to open in Walterboro during recent months, including IHOP Restaurant, the new Fat Jack’s Restaurant and a new collision center being constructed along Robertson Boulevard.
The store is open Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon. For more information on the store or its products, call 843-539-2000.
