A Summer Camp to remember

Thirty seven students graced the floor of the Colleton County Recreation Center Gymnasium Thursday evening, July 25. This marked the end of the eighth year of Summer Camp at the Rec. After a few words from Director Darlene Cummings the students sang several songs and concluded with a dance performance. Each of the camp counselors took a moment to speak to the parents and students about their experiences during camp and how much each of them enjoyed spending the summer with the campers. There was a reception following the program. Mr. Bruce Singleton and Mr. Brown prepared all of the meats, and parents provided all of the salads, vegetables, fruits, and desserts. “This was a great example of parents working together for the benefit of the children!” said Mrs. Cummings

During camp, students are engaged in various activities such as arts and crafts, physical education, story time, music and academics. Students visited places such as Bee City, the IMAX theatre, Chuck E. Cheese and The Children’s Museum in Charleston. Camp Counselors were Mrs. Darlene Cummings, Director; Mrs. Anita Green, Assistant Director/Academics; Ms. Iris Edwards, Journal Writings; Mr. Brandon Williams, Physical Education; Ms. Lauren Barrett, Arts & Crafts; Mrs. Debra Williams, Structured Activities and Ms. Cynthia Richardson, Music. The camp is open to ages 4-12. If you would like further information contact Mrs. Cummings at 538-3031.
