8th Annual Veterans Car Show

Even with high winds and rain on the morning of May 8, 2015 the Veterans Victory House car show went off without a hitch. The Walterboro cruisers hosted the 8th Annual Car Show in honor of all the veteran men and women that have served our country. The cruisers always let the veterans participate in the activities at the car show. The residents present a veterans choice award and help host the event. The show was filled with lots of good food, music and some of the best cars in the country attended. A special appearance was made by Mariah Mallard, our current Miss Colleton County Rice Festival, who also assisted in the award ceremony presentation. The Mustang Club out of Charleston donated $500.00 to the fundraising event. The Corvette Club was the largest club in attendance. The best of show award went to a ‘53 Ford F 100 pickup. At the end of the show something very special happened, the VFW headed up by Post Commander Bill Proctor awarded the Veterans Choice Award to car number 96, which was a black 1935 Hudson, a gangster mobile, with all the specialties white wall tires, suicide doors and even a Tommy gun. This is the second year in a row that this vehicle has won this award. The owner says he will always cherish and remember the award that he received and put it on the shelf. The Veterans all signed a special t-shirt and it was auctioned for over $400 which the Cruisers will give to the Veterans Victory House, along with any other funds that were raised at the 18th annual event.
