WarHawks Defeat Rivals in First PRTC Bowl

CPA Warhawk football had a special addition this year to their season as PRTC has agreed to sponsor a PRTC Bowl Game every year against CPA and their rival Dorchester Academy. According to Coach Rob Gorrell, “PRTC will be sponsoring a bowl game between CPA and Dorchester Academy each year. It is going to flip back and forth and the winner gets to keep the trophy all year.” This was the first year for the Bowl Game, which was played on Thursday October 5th on CPA’s home turf. In true Warhawk fashion, the team played with passion and pulled out a win for the Warhawks 48-40. During the game there were several players who pushed through for the team according to Coach Gorrell, “Fisher Jackson, our quarterback had over 200 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Senior Cam Hiers and Joe Bryan ran the ball well. They both had touchdowns. Hunter Hudson with the game interception at the end. He played hard at linebacker all night.” These players and the rest of the Warhawks were able to walk away with not only the win but the PRTC Bowl Game trophy. Before the game began, Senior football and cheerleading players were recognized as the announcer shared their years in Warhawk athletics and their favorite memories while being involved. Warhawk Seniors include Fisher Jackson, Joe Bryan, Josh Padgett, Cole Smith, Mikey Covington, Josh Crosby, Justin Parker, Reeves Schrimpf, Cameron Hiers, Sydney Crosby, Caroline Jones, and Emily Martin. Coach Gorrell was especially pleased with the work the seniors put into the game against DA, “All of them stepped up. It’s been a rough season and they had good attitudes. I am proud of the way our team as a whole played with some more attitude and confidence and aggressiveness. We made plenty of mistakes but when they play that hard it makes up for it. If they keep doing that good things will happen.” This week the Warhawks will face Hilton Head Prep on Friday October 13th in an away game. The Warhawks will end their season the following two weeks as they play in region matches against John Paul (away) and Thomas Heyward (home). “I am very excited for this week and the rest of the season,” Coach Gorrell said.
