Volunteers awarded at Eat Smart ceremony

Several volunteers for the Colleton County Eat Smart, Move More program were awarded for their service during a ceremony at Colleton Memorial Library on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 28.

The program was hosted by Eat Smart, Move More, Colleton County Director and Clemson Extension Service Healthy Lifestyle Agent Melissa Buckner. “The appreciation reception was held to recognize community partners and volunteers who have taken part in the Let’s Go Healthy Community Project,” Melissa said.

She noted that Gloria Bradley, Dwayne Buckner, Debbie and Ron Gorrell, Brenda Hughes, Carol Marshall, Stacey Price, Sallie Stephens, and Jennifer Worthington were all recognized for their service to the community.

Four quilts related to the “Eat Smart Move More” were also displayed at the reception. These quilts were created by Hendersonville Elementary School students in conjunction with an educational enrichment program conducted by Elaine Inabinett at the Colleton Museum. All of the quilts show different ways people can eat smart and move more.

“The progress we’ve made here in Colleton County can be attributed to dedicated community partners and volunteers and also to the many people who have seen the vision of the Let’s Go Healthy Community Project and have made it a part of their personal lives,” said Melissa. “We greatly appreciate everyone who has taken part.”
