USC Men 16th in the Country

The USC Salkehatchie Indians Men’s Basketball team beat Franklin Prep at home last Tuesday, 120 to 88. This put the Indians off to a 7-0 start for the season and ranked 8th nationally with two of their wins coming against other Top 25 teams on the road. USC Salkehatchie Indians Men’s Head Basketball Coach Jake Williams said, “I am very pleased with our ball movement on the offensive end. We had 30 assistants with seven players scoring in double figures. We are playing unselfish and together on the offensive end. We need to continue to improve our communication and physicality on the defensive end in order to become the team we want to be in February and March.”
The Indians were on the road this past Saturday and faced South Georgia State. Unfortunately, they lost in a tight game, 68 to 70. This brought their season to 7-1 and dropped them from 8th in the country to 16th. Top scorers were: Vince Cole-15pts, Mardrez McBride-14pts, and Kevin Williamson-12pts. Coach Williams added, “We are back on the road until December 7th when we and the Lady Indians have a doubleheader with tip-off time at 2 pm. Then we have a home game against top 25 opponent, Daytona State on December 10th, which will be a rematch from November 8th where we defeated them 103 to 81.”
Returning All-American, Vince Cole, has signed NLI to play with St John’s University of the Big East Conference next year. Returning sophomore guard, Kevin Williamson, has signed NLI to play with Coastal Carolina next year.
