Student’s Learn to Slam the Exam at CES

Students at Cottageville Elementary got a special treat to prepare for their end of the year testing. This week the students will have state testing, so as a way to encourage them to do their best, a Slam the Exam Pep Rally was held on Monday, May 14th. Students were able to participate in the popular Minute to Win It games based off of the T.V. show. These games included Cheeto Toss, Cup Builder, and Cookie Race. Teachers from each grade level participated in a Lip Sync Battle, also based off the popular T.V. show. The 3rd grade teachers did a skit to The Fresh Prince, 4th grade teacher did Rolly, and 5th grade teachers sang to the Golden Girls them song. The administration and leadership team also joined in on the fun as they did a substitute teacher skit, while the positive behavior support teacher gave his remix to the lip sync battle of I Like Big Books, as he starred as Sir Reads A Lot. The students also participated in a student – teacher tug a war. Children who showed the most improved and highest scores on STAR testing were able to pick any teacher to receive a pie in the face. The games and skits allowed the students to relax and enjoy themselves and their teachers before a week of state testing. According to Cottageville Elementary Ready Coach Kristie Long, “The kids loved it! They were pumped up and excited for testing and the incentives we are offering this week too!”
