Sixth Annual Walk & Wag brings in $6500 for the animals

Millie enjoys a splash in the pool at this year’s Walk & Wag.

Friends of the Colleton County Animal Shelter (FoCCAS) pulled off another successful year of Walk & Wag this past weekend at the Discovery Center’s parking lot. Around 125 folks showed up to walk their dogs, shelter dogs, work booths and have fun. There were about 45 dogs in attendance. ‘Going to the Dogs Band’ kept the crowd tapping along to some of their favorite music and hot dogs once again fed the masses. Jeannette Neal, President of FoCCAS, was super excited to learn she won the raffle that landed her five Sweet Grass Baskets made by Pearl Brown and donated by Charlie Linder. Kim Fox took home the $250 Visa card that was raffled and donated by Treasure Chest Gold. Lessie Snead and Dana Cheney will be enjoying a Women’s Basketball Game at USC Salkehatchie thanks to their ticket getting pulled for the ticket giveaway!

Sarah Miller, Public Relations Coordinator for FoCCAS, was excited to see once again how many people in our community support the animals. “From sponsors to those that volunteer and attend Walk & Wag it shows that our community is willing to support a great cause. I was thrilled to see so many dogs get to walk the Wildlife Sanctuary with their owners. I appreciate the USC Salkehatchie Women’s Basketball team for showing up and helping set up tents as well as walk a few of our shelter dogs and come out and meet members of the community. Each year I think it can’t get any better, but each year it does, and we want the community to know how much it means to the animals and us,” said Miller on the event. According to Miller this year’s efforts raised $6500 for the animals.
