Ruffin High School’s Alumni Homecoming Reunion held

The theme for this year’s Second Biannual Ruffin High School Homecoming Reunion was on target, which was “United On Purpose”. Alumni from across this great U.S.A. was in attendance. The reunion was held from October 26-28.

The reunion started on Friday, October 26th with a ‘Meet & Greet’ at the BZS Community Center, located 375 Smyly Road at 4:00 p.m. Hugs and kisses were given and received all over the room, and some attendees had not seen their classmates since their graduation(s).

On Saturday, October 27th, the fan-fare Homecoming Parade occurred, and then at 8:00 p.m. that night, a banquet fit for kings and queens was much enjoyed by those who ate. Many alumni graced the red carpet that led into the stellar banquet area. The phenomenal speaker was Dr. Cynthia Salley Nicholson, and what a NOW word was given. The unveiling of Milestone Classic took place at the banquet and this year’s alumnus that graced the cover was the belated Councilman Floyd Buckner of the RHS Class of 1960. He was an iconic alumnus who was a “Purpose Driven Icon.” His sister, RHS alumnus Evangelist Gladys Buckner Moore, received the celebratory magazine in his memory.

To climax the homecoming reunion a dynamic worship experience was held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church on October 28th at 3:00 p.m. The speaker was the incomparable Pastor Tracy Colleton Glover (RHS Class of 1987).
