Pineland Plantation to host “Paws at the Plantation”

Friends of the Colleton County Animal Shelter are gearing up for one of their largest fund raisers of the year. “Paws at the Plantation” has historically served as one of the best annual fundraisers in Colleton County since it started six years ago and this year will be no exception. For a reasonable ticket price of $50, folks will not only be able to visit the historic Pineland Plantation but they will also enjoy dinner, a silent auction, live entertainment and fellowship with other animal lovers. For those of you who really want to help the non- profit group but just don’t know how, this is a perfect opportunity.

Pineland Plantation, located on Possum Corner Road, received the Landgrave Edmund Bellinger Award given by the Colleton County Historical and Preservation Society in 2017. The Award exemplifies plantation preservation at its best. The setting is guaranteed to please those in attendance. FoCCAS plans on the event to take place on the grounds but does have rain plans if the weather decides to not cooperate. The event will be decorated by Sparkles Event Decor & Design.

Dinner will surely be a hit as Jimmy Fitts will be serving up his famous barbeque and grilled chicken. Beer and wine are also included in the ticket price. The “Going to the Dogs Band” of Cottageville will be providing live entertainment.

The silent auction will contain around 40 items. Many of the items up for grabs this year are very unique and have all been donated by other animal lovers. For sports lovers there are several golf packages up for grabs. The Golf Course at Stono Ferry is one contributor to this year’s auction. There is also a signed photo of James Cann from The Godfather and a signed guitar by various country artists. For the jewelry lovers, several pet themed diamond necklaces are up from grabs. Many other home accent items, dinners, and overnight stays are also included in this year’s auction. Raffle tickets for floor seats for the April 6 Jimmy Buffet concert are available for advanced purchase through Friday March 2. They are available at Treasure Chest Gold on Bells Highway for only $10. The drawing will take place during the event but those who purchased do not have to be in attendance to win.

Friends of the Colleton County Animal Shelter have one main purpose; to help the animals of Colleton County. They strive to do this in three ways: 1. Having animals spayed and neutered 2.

Educating the public through educational programs 3. Rescue and adoptions. FoCCAS can only continue to help the animals of Colleton County if they can continue to receive financial support through donations and fundraisers, as the cost of caring for these animals are increasing every day. Tickets should be purchased in advance. To purchase your tickets stop by Consignment Envy or Treasure Chest Gold Company, visit www.foccas-sc.org, or call Sarah Miller at 843-635-5206. Tickets will not be available at the door.
