Memorial for Drawdy at Cottageville Elementary

A camellia bush was planted at Cottageville Elementary in memory of Lauren Drawdy.

On January 13, Cottageville Elementary School hosted a memorial service for Lauren Drawdy, which was attended by the CES school family. A camellia bush was planted during the ceremony, chosen because its flowers bloom bright pink, Lauren’s favorite color. Both students and adults shared some of their memories of Lauren during the service.
“These words describe Lauren: sweet – she was kind to others and forgiving of others, vibrant – she lived life to the fullest, and loving – she loved her family and friends,” CES Principal Janis Headden said during the service.
A plaque will be placed in front of the camellia bush with a quote Lauren would say to her teacher and her classmates daily: “It’s a beautiful day.”
