“M” is for Mailman

If you have ever wondered what someone might do on the 25th anniversary of their career, just ask postal carrier, Jeff Musgrave. He will tell you in his most modest way that it was just another day on the job because he went to work to celebrate his milestone. You see, Musgrave is a prime example of someone that works hard every day to make sure the people in his neighborhood are happy. He even took time out of his busy day to make a quick stop by First Baptist Wee Preschool to talk to the children about being a community helper. He even brought Kelvin Gordon, Post Master for the Walterboro Post Office, along to meet the children.
The preschool children were thrilled to have the mail carrier stop by with his mailbag. Musgrave pulled a stack of letters out of his bag and Gordon called each student by name. Musgrave then delivered a letter to each student. His act of kindness showed the children what it means to be a community helper. Each child now knows the mailman is a friend and how important their role is in their neighborhood.
One can only hope that when they hear the familiar words of a song we all know from Sesame Street, they will think of our community helper, Jeff Musgrave, so much more than just a mail carrier.
“Oh, who are the people in your neighborhood?
In your neighborhood?
In your neighborhood?
Say, who are the people in your neighborhood?
The people that you meet each day
Oh, the postman always brings the mail
Through rain or snow or sleet or hail
I’ll work and work the whole day through
To get your letters safe to you
‘Cause a postman is a person in your neighborhood
In your neighborhood
He’s in your neighborhood
A postman is a person in your neighborhood
A person that you meet each day”
