Hilton Head has moved up a classification this year to 4A and they proved why they are always in contention for the state finals. The JV’s would get the afternoon started off for the Cougars, but as quickly as the match started, Hilton Head’s pressure was too much for the Cougars. Hilton Head JV won 9-0. The two varsity squads lined up in the evening match. It was a back and forth battle for much of the first half, but Hilton Head struck first. Colleton County had multiple opportunities, but couldn’t capitalize on them. Hilton Head would win 4-0.
On Friday, March 24, the Cougars would travel to Berkeley County for a JV and varsity match up. The Cougar JV netted the first goal in the 20th minute by a strike from Kaylee Reymil. The game went to the half with the Cougar JV up 1-0. Early in the second half, Sierra Obenaus would tally a goal giving the Cougars a 2-0 lead. Shortly after, Obenaus would again find the net for her second goal of the night. Colleton JV took the win 3-0.
in the evening game, the Cougar varsity squared off against Berkeley. In the 10th minute, Amber Warren sent a 35-yard free kick into the back of the net giving the Cougars the lead. Five minutes later, Heather Dowd set up Faith Allen for the second goal. Allen would return the favor minutes later as she set up Dowd for a strike. Berkeley would find the goal on a free kick shortly after. Before the half, Warren again would hammer home a long free kick from way out giving CCHS a 4-1 lead. Berkeley County upped the pressure in the second half scoring 2 more, but it was a little too late as Allen scored her second on the night giving the victory to Colleton County 5-3. The Cougars are 6-2 on the season.
