From the halls…Meet our student Journalist

The Colletonian would like to introduce you to our four student journalists for the 2014-2015 school year. These four students represent four different schools and four different school experiences. Each week one of these students will be bringing you a story from their life as they walk the halls of their school. We feel very fortunate to be able to share these bright and talented students with our readers and look forward to what they have to say!

Claire Copeland

Claire Copeland

Claire Copeland is 16 years old and is a Junior at Colleton County High School. She is the daughter of Margaret Carter and Jamey Copeland and has one sister. Copeland is currently ranked fifth in her class and is the Junior Class Vice President. She is also a member of the National Honor Society. In her spare time she loves to travel and spend time with her family and friends. As of right now, she would like to study International Business at a large univeristy.

Dylan Lamb

Dylan Lamb

Dylan Lamb is 17 years old and is a Senior at North Walterboro Christian Academy. He is the son of Tommy and Christy Lamb and has three brothers. Lamb is on the A Honor Roll and the Principle’s List. He also serves on the Yearbook staff and the Tech Crew. He enjoys playing baseball for the North Walterboro Christian Academy’s Warriors and can be found on the pitcher’s mound or in centerfield. In his spare time, Lamb likes to dabble in photography and sound systems. He enjoys riding four wheelers, fishing, and hiking. After graduating he plans to get his insurance license and to work for his parents at their insurance agency, Midtown Insurance Solutions.

Mayme Medlock

Mayme Medlock

Mayme Medlock is 15 years old and is a Sophomore at Cougar New Tech Entrepreneurial Academy. She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. DuBose Medlock. She is an only child, though she has two dogs who are convinced that she is the adopted child of the family. Medlock has earned the SC EOC Award for English, served as CNT liaison to MUSC, and received first place for the CNT art project in 2014. She is a member of the CNT Social Entrepreneur Club, Co-Founder of the Model United Nations, and is on the CNT Director’s Advisory Council. She enjoys playing tennis, writing, reading, knitting, and working out. For fun, she loves to watch old movies, particularly those with Audrey Hepburn playing the lead, hanging out with friends, and watching science fiction on television. She knows her plans could change, but for now she would like to attend Oxford University in England or Wofford College in Spartanburg. She would like to be a Reproductive Endocrinologist.

Alexandra Sanders

Alexandra Sanders

Alexandra Sanders is 17 years old and is a Senior at Colleton Preparatory Academy. She is the daughter of Sandy Smith and Chad Sanders and has one brother and three sisters. Sanders has been on the Headmasters List since first grade, served as a graduation marshal, participated in the Duke Talent Identification Program, and was a delegate to Palmetto Girls State. She has been identified as a Converse College Scholar, Lander College Scholar, and Newberry College Scholar. Sanders participated in the National Youth Leadership Forum, the National Youth Leadership in Medicine, and the FRS Washington Tour. This year she serves as the National Honor Society President, Student Body Vice President, Yearbook Assistant Editor and sings in the Chorus and Show Choir. She enjoys cheerleading and playing soccer for the Warhawks. In her spare time, she loves to swim, go to the beach, shop, and spend time with her family and friends. She is planning to apply to the University of Georgia, Clemson, or the University of South Carolina. She plans to study pharmaceutical science.
