Fort Dorchester proved too much for Cougars

The Colleton County High School Cougars visited the Fort Dorchester Patriots Friday night for the Patriot’s homecoming game, but just couldn’t overcome the bigger team.

The Cougars were able to move the ball on the Patriots, but each drive stalled. The Cougars even threatened to score more than once, but came up short each time. Fort Dorchester took a commanding 21 to 0 lead at halftime, and never looked back, winning by a score of 42-7.

The Cougars were able to execute an effective onside kick during the game. After scoring their only touchdown, the Cougars tried an onside kick in order to retain possession of the football. Kicker Stewart Bailey, after laying down a picture-perfect kick, was able to go down and recover the ball for the Cougars. The drive was unsuccessful, but the execution was impressive.

The Colleton County Junior Varsity faced the Fort Dorchester Patriots on Thursday night, and came away with a big 6-0 win.

The Junior Varsity team will be back in action this Thursday night at home against the Summerville Green Wave. The Varsity team will travel to Summerville on Friday. Come out and support the Cougars, as they do battle with the Green Wave.
