CPA Lady War Hawks Take on Beaufort Academy

The CPA Lady War Hawks started off their season with a strong winning streak but have fought the past two weeks to find their footing again. The Lady War Hawks experienced their first defeat, when they played Patrick Henry on December 5th in a close game that left the Lady War Hawks only a few points away from a victory with a final score of 42-38. The Lady War Hawks have been led this season by Sophomore Langley Harter and Junior Meredith Ware, who have both showed immense potential and scoring capabilities during the games.
The Lady War Hawks faced Beaufort Academy on Friday, December 15th, where once again, another tight game ultimately ended in a defeat for the War Hawks who were lost to B.A. with a final score of 45 to 37. Although the Lady War Hawks have began to adjust to new teammates and a new coach, they got off to a slow start during the first half of the game with B.A. holding a 12 point lead ending the first half. The Lady War Hawks stepped back up during the 3rd quarter as they held B.A. with only one point between the lead. Beaufort Academy ended the game ahead as the Lady War Hawks were unable to regain the lead. The Lady War Hawks were lead by Sophomore Langley Harter who scored 15 points during the game, followed by Junior Meredith Ware who scored 9 points and 15 rebounds. According to Coach Brown, “With success comes other concerns as we are winning we start thinking about losing the success more than continuing the success. Any program on the rise has this issue they begin to over think instead just playing.” With this being the first two defeats of the season, Coach Brown still believes in the potential of the Lady War Hawks, “We will be fine and we plan on using the Christmas break to correct somethings and add some different options on offense and defense,” Coach Brown said.
The Lady War Hawks will return to the courts and their regular season on Wednesday January 3rd, where they will have a home game against John Paul II.
