CPA Lady War Hawks Hold a Four Game Winning Streak

This was a busy and exciting week for Colleton Prep Lady Hawks, as they kicked off their first of four games of the week against Holly Hill Academy on Monday, November 27th. The Lady War Hawks were led that night by Langley Harter, with 26 points and Anne Garrett Carter, with 11 points, who greatly contributed to overall first win of the week for girls as they defeated Holly Hill 53-25. Meredith Ware also stood out during the game, with 6 points and 17 rebounds. According to Coach Brown, “The game was very intense from the beginning as Holly Hill Academy has a Senior lead team that was very aggressive on defense and their home crowd was into the game from the beginning.” This was only the beginning for the Lady War Hawks, who played Patrick Henry on Tuesday, November 28th, in an intense and exciting game. The game was a close one, as no team held a lead greater than 6 points during the entire, with the final score coming with only 6.7 seconds left on the score board. The game was tied 44 to 44, when Anne Garrett Carter, stepped up. “We drew up our homerun play Anne Garrett Carter was the in-bounder,” Coach Brown said, “We ran a series of pics/screens with Langley Harter breaking long. Anne Garrett hit her in stride with Langley making the lay up where she was fouled on the play. Langley completed the 3-point play for the margin of victory.” This victory was lead by Langley Harter, who scored 20 points and Anne Garrett Carter who finished the game with 14 points and 7 assists. “Patrick Henry was a team that played with great passion and grit,” Coach Brown said, “They pushed us to match their intensity. The Ladies responded well, and this will help us get later in the season.” The Lady War Hawks traveled to St. George on Thursday, November 30th where they played their third game of the week against their rivals, Dorchester Academy. Another intense and close game for the Lady Hawks, who ultimately defeated DA 27-26, with Langley Harter again leading the team with 19 points. “The game lived up to its rival’s history as both teams played hard nose defense,” Coach Brown said, “Dorchester lead most of the way as the Lady Hawks stayed with their game plan to limit the Lady Raiders 6 ft center Elizabeth Huff who had most of her points came from the line.” Although it was an intense game, the Lady Hawks ultimately walked away with another win for the books. “We decide no layups tonight, we fought to keep everyone out of the paint,” Coach Brown said, “We did a pretty good job as we were able to limit the number of put back by Huff.” The final game of the week for the Lady Hawks was against Andrew Jackson Academy, where the girls brought home their final win of the week 49-16.
“It was a great opportunity for all the girls to get some playing time,” Coach Brown said, “Everyone on the team saw great minutes as the Lady Hawks used the bench throughout the game. There will be a time when we will need everyone to step up and contribute. An early season game like this one allows everyone to get some work.”
