CPA brings home trophy in the 1st Annual PRTC Bowl

Colleton Prep Academy brought home the winning trophy over Dorchester Academy in the 1st Annual PRTC Bowl, on Thursday, October 4th. CPA was determined to show their biggest rivalry that they meant business and that is what they did by beating DA 22-8. CPA Head Football Coach, Rob Gorrell, was extremely proud of how his team has persevered through some tough moments this year.
CPA finished the game with 387 rushing yards. Drew Murdaugh had 127 rushing yards and a touchdown. Gabe Barnes added 94 rushing yards and a touchdown. Connor McMillian and Hunter Hudson combined for 77 yards from the fullback position and Connor scored a touchdown. The defense forced a fumble and 3 interceptions, with Jacob Breland having 1 and Grier Frank having 2. David McMillen had 4 tackles and forced a fumble on his first game back. Hunter Hudson led in tackles with 8.
Coach Gorrell said, “I felt like we controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Hats off to all of our linemen. The defense played great all night. We still have to clean up a couple of turnovers that stopped good drives we had going. That is the only thing that stopped us.”
CPA will host Hilton Head Christian for their Homecoming game Friday, October 12th with kickoff at 7:30pm. Come out and support these young players.
