The first responder’s was very grateful for a good hot meal while they were away from their families serving our community. A total of 234 plates were served at this time including to go orders for 911 dispatchers and jailers that could not make it.
The restaurant staff includes: a mother daughter duo, Tammy Shuman and Krissy Bridge. The ladies weathered the storm to make sure the first responders had a hot meal. Ms. Shuman is from Walterboro and has been in the food industry for 30 plus years.
She had no power at her home but said, “ I am glad that I could help out.” Mrs. Bridge is from Cottageville and has been in the food industry for 20 years. She said, “ I had to have tree’s cut to get to the restaurant, but I am very grateful that the county allowed my mother, Ms. Shuman, and myself to help out. I do not know how to cut trees, so this is the only way we knew how to help out.”
The Dogwood Hills restaurant is open on Thursday’s and Friday’s 11am to 9pm with daily specials. The restaurant has a buffet the first Sunday of every month from 11am to 2:30pm. They also have a large banquet hall and decks so the restaurant can host special events and cater to your needs.
