Colleton voters choose Biden in Saturday’s Democratic Primary

Colleton County’s registered voters chose Joe Biden in Saturday’s Democratic Presidential Primary, a large stage leading up to Tuesday’s multi-state presidential primary contest.
Joe Biden received the overwhelming support of Colleton voters in Saturday’s primary, taking 2,237 of the total votes cast.
Bernie Sanders received 659 votes in Coleton County and Tom Steyer took 516 votes.
Candidate Elizabeth Warren received 152 votes and Pete Buttigieg got 130 votes in Colleton.
Tulsi Gabbard took 59 votes in Colleton County, followed by Amy Klobuchar, who received 54 votes in Colleton.
The other Democratic presidential candidates received 10 or fewer collective votes in Colleton during Saturday’s primary.
In all, 4,018 votes were cast from a total voting pool of 25,071 registered voters in Colleton County.
South Carolina voters also chose Joe Biden in Saturday’s primary. Biden received 48.4 percent of the Palmetto State’s votes. He was followed by Bernie Sanders, who took 19.9 percent. Tom Steyer came in third in South Carolina with 11.3 percent of the state’s votes.
Colleton County precinct breakdown
These are the number of people who turned out in Saturday’s primary, broken down by precinct. This information is from the Colleton County Office of Elections and Board of Voter Registration.
The Bells precinct has 280 registered voters. Of these voters, 35 ballots were cast. This equates to a 12.5 percent voter turnout.
In Canadys, there are 532 registered voters. The Canadys precinct had a 17.1 percent voter turnout rate, with 91 votes cast.
In Cottageville, 182 of the town’s 1,484 voters participated in the primary. This equates to a 12.26 percent voter participation rate.
In Edisto, there are 324 registered voters. Of this registered voter pool, 64 people participated in the Saturday primary. This means that Edisto had a 19.75 percent participation rate in the primary.
At Green Pond, 231 of the precinct’s 848 voters participated in the primary. This equates to a 27.25 percent voter participation rate in Green Pond.
Hendersonville has 1,054 registered voters. Of these, 259 voters cast a ballot on Saturday, creating a 24.57 percent voter participation rate in Hendersonville.
The Horse Pen precinct has 601 registered voters. Of these, 75 participated in Saturday’s primary., creating a 12.48 percent participation rate.
In Hudson Mill, 62 of the precinct’s 554 registered voters cast a ballot, resulting in a 11.19 percent voter turnout rate.
In Jacksonboro, 88 of the town’s 327 registered voters cast a ballot on Saturday. This creates a 26.91 percent.
About 9-percent of the registered voter pool in Maple Cane participated in Saturday’s primary: 85 of the precinct’s 943 registered voters participated.
In Mashawville, 152 of the community’s 751 registered voters participated in the primary. This equates to a 20.24 percent voter turnout.
Peeples had a 12.8 percent voter participation rate, with 145 of the precinct’s 1,133 voters participating.
Petits had a 19.91 percent participation rate, with 45 of the 226 registered voters casting a ballot on Saturday.
Ritter has 685 registered voters. Of these, 152 participated in the primary, creating a 22.19 percent voter turnout.
In Round O, 116 of the area’s 962 registered voters cast a ballot. This is a 12.06 percent voter turnout rate.
Rice Patch had a 15.58 percent voter turnout rate, with 88 of the 565 registered voters participating.
Ruffin had a 15.77 percent voter turnout rate, with 41 of the town’s 260 registered voters participating on Saturday.
In the Sidneys precinct, 62 of the 528 registered voters participated, creating an 11.74 percent voter turnout.
In Stokes, 64 of 660 registered voters cast a ballot on Saturday, creating a 9.7 percent voter turnout.
In Walterboro No. 1, 240 of the precinct’s 1,215 registered voters cast a ballot, with a 11.97 percent.
In Walterboro No. 2, 186 registered voters of the precinct’s 1,203 registered voters participated. This is a 15.46 percent voter turnout.
In Walterboro No. 3, there was a 25.46 percent voter turnout rate, with 360 of the 1,414 registered voters participating.
In Walterboro No. 4, 215 of the precinct’s 1,316 registered voters cast a ballot, creating a 16.34 voter turnout rate.
Walterboro No. 5 had a 9.89 percent voter turnout rate, with 155 of the precinct’s 1,460 registered voters casting a ballot.
Williams had a 19 percent voter turnout rate, with 53 of the town’s 279 registered voters participating in the primary.
Wolfe Creek had a 6.81 percent voter turnout, with 25 of the precinct’s 367 registered voters casting a ballot.
At Edisto Beach, 181 of the 1,092 voters participated, creating a 16.58 percent voter turnout.
In Ashton-Lodge, there was a 9.89 percent voter turnout rate, with 46 of the 465 registered voters casting a ballot.
In Berea-Smoaks, 169 of the precinct’s 890 voters cast a ballot, creating an 18.99 percent turnout.
In Walterboro No. 6, there was a 15.2 percent voter turnout rate, with 175 of the precinct’s 1,151 voters casting a ballot.
