Colleton County Remains In 4A

In a turn of events, Colleton County High School will remain in 4A classification for the 2018-2020 school years. Colleton County was scheduled to be classified as 5A starting next school year placing them back into a conference with Summerville, Fort Dorchester and Ashley Ridge. After two previous declined appeals, the state directors approved the swap between Colleton County High School and Stall High School. Colleton County is currently in 4A conference with Hilton Head, Beaufort, Berkeley County and Stall. With the changes, the Cougars will remain in 4A with Hilton Head, Beaufort and the new addition of Bluffton. It will be a different setup for the Colleton County coaches, as each team will have to fill schedules with less conference games as it is a four-team conference instead of five.” We will be in a four team region which has made scheduling tougher, but we are making it work nonetheless” Said Colleton County Athletic Director Leon Hammond. Many Colleton County coaches feel the same as AD Leon Hammond, but remaining in 4A is a better competitive fit for the school.
