CCHS Cross Country competes at Crooked Creek

On Saturday, September 22nd, Colleton County High School Cross Country competed at Crooked Creek in Chapin. The girls ran first and finished 7th with 19 teams competing with 154 runners participating. CCHS Head Cross Country Coach George Smith said, “They had their best race of the season.” The names, times, and placement are as followed: Grayson Altman-20:35-21, Abigail Altman-21:03-30, Sierra Obenaus-21:26-36, Stacey Bennett-22:02-55, Kensley Dantzler-22:04-57, Kayla Dantzler-22:22-72, Lauren Reynolds-23:38-101, Grace Reynolds-25:54-131, Elizabeth McLaughlin-26:32-135, and Faith Reynolds-27:54-142.
The CCHS Cross Country Boys ran next finishing 20th with 20 full teams taking part with 162 runners competing. Names, times and placement are as followed: Blaine Cook-19:28-115, Hans-Gabriel-21:43-149, Wyatt O’Quinn-21:48-151, Nathan Erwin-22:30-156, Evan Stroble-23:00-157, Tyler Scites-23:00-158, and Raleigh Obenaus-26:25-160.
The CCHS Cross Country team went to Mullet Hall on Johns Island this past Saturday. Coach Smith said, “The race was delayed because of bad weather. A portion of the course was covered with water and made for an interesting adventure. The times were slower than normal, but was expected because of the conditions.” The varsity girls finished 18th out of 45 teams competing with a total of 322 runners participating. Grayson Altman-22:01-49, Sierra Obenaus-22:10-54, Abigail Altman-22:47-81, Kensley Dantzler-24:16-151, Kalyla Dantzler-24:44-167, Stacey Bennett-24:44-169, and Lauren Reynolds-25:43-210.
The CCHS JV girls placed 15th with 186 girls participating. Elizabeth McLaughlin-28:39-112, Grace Reynolds-29:37-125, Faith Reynolds-31:27-147, Dorothy Dessoye-32:31-158, Ashlyn Ballew-35:19-172, Jamiee Robertson-36:38-176, and Zoe Buckner-38:39-180.
CCHS Varsity boys competed against 47 teams with 389 runners participating. Blaine Cook-21:07-208, Hans Grabriel-23:41-279, Wyatt O’Quinn-23:45-282, Tyler Scites-24:03-295, Nathan Erwin-24:37-309, and Evan Stroble-25:21-325.
CCHS JV boys did not have enough runners to field a complete team, however, there were 261 runners participating. Terrance Garrett-24:28-149, Raleigh Obenaus-29:17-224 and Graham Behie-33:22-246.
CCHS Cross Country team will be competing in Hampton Wednesday, October 3rd, but as of press deadline on Tuesday there were not any results. They will also be competing in Darlington on Saturday, October 6th.
