CCHAPS to Rock in the Holidays with Holiday Home Tour

The Colleton County Historical and Preservation Society (CCHAPS) will once again “Rock in the Holidays” with the Holiday Tour of Homes. The event, which is part of Walterboro’s “Rock in the Holidays” weekend, will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2017. The tour will begin when folks check in at the Little Library, Tour Headquarters, located at 803 Wichman Street beginning at 1:00 pm. Tour goers will receive their tour map and badge to enter the homes on tour. Once checked in, folks can visit seven different homes located in the Historic District of Downtown Walterboro. Parking directions will also be included with the tour map or folks can choose to walk the route. Since this is a self guided tour, homes may be toured in any order.
At 4:00 pm participants are invited to attend a 1950’s mid-century retro Christmas party at the Bedon-Lucas house where food and entertainment will be provided. Tickets for the event are $30 for CCHAPS members and $40 for non-members. Membership applications will also be available at the Little Library if you would like to become a member to the society. The non-profit organization will also be selling raffle tickets for a few great prizes during check-in. This year’s raffle prizes are a Christmas Wreath by Gladys Murray, two corn hole games and a CCHAPS book package that will include two plantation books.
“We are very excited about this year’s Holiday Tour of Homes. Last year was a huge success and we have taken what we have learned and built upon it. Last year we had over 200 tourist and some were from as far away as California. We are hoping this year will bring even a larger crowd. We are also very thankful for all the community support we have received by way of Sponsors for this year’s event”, said Debi Gilliam, Chairman for the 2017 Tour of Homes. Once the reception ends at the Bedon-Lucas House guest can head over for the City of Walterboro’s Christmas Tree Lighting and Christmas Parade.
Tickets can be purchased in advance during office hours from the CCHAPS Office located at 205 Church Street, Farm Bureau located at 1206 North Jefferies Boulevard or can be purchased online at www.cchaps.com.
CCHAPS will also be hosting “Hanging of the Greens” on Sunday, December 10. This event is sponsored by the Mayfield Garden Club, CCHAPS and the City of Walterboro. Hanging of the Greens will begin at 2:00 pm with a reception to follow at the Bedon-Lucas House.
