Boy’s “Vision to Give” Fulfilled

In the summer of 2017, Preston Clark came to his mom and made a simple request to give all of his money to the homeless. Each summer Preston and his family take a vacation that he and his brothers save up their money to take and spend. Preston told his mom that he didn’t want to spend his money on his vacation that year but instead, donate all of his money to the homeless. Preston’s mom, Tara, thought about this selfless request and decided to honor her sons wish but do a little more. Tara set up a special go fund me page called “Vision to Give” and told her sons story on flyers and youtube. Preston has been collecting money for almost 8 months and on Saturday, March 3rd Preston’s “Vision to Give” became a reality as he and his family delivered a $501.00 check to Safe Haven, a local homeless shelter in Walterboro. Preston’s step brother, William O’Bryant, was a big support for Preston, along with his mother who helped Preston set up donation jars at Enterprise Bank.

On Saturday, when Preston, his mother, and step brother delivered the money he had collected to Safe Haven, they were able to tour the shelter and learn about all the things that his money would be used towards. Ms. Thomas, from Safe Haven, was able to show Preston and his family all the different types of individuals who grace their doors, including children, and how much donations truly mean to a shelter like Safe Haven. “Thank you to all who helped Preston with his donation to the community,” Preston’s mom, Tara, said, “This is proof there are still wonderful people out there willing to help make a difference.”
