Band of Blue Places 2nd in Competition

The Colleton County High School Band of Blue, under the direction of Tom Finigan, competed in the White Knoll Silver Fall Showcase on Saturday, September 23rd at White Knoll High School in Lexington, S.C.. The Band of Blue ended up placing 2nd in the class 5A, which was a big accomplishment, especially so early in the competing season. According to Director Tom Finigan, The Band of Blue placed 2nd with a score of 78.2 with River Bluff High School who scored a 85.6 which placed them in first place. If you have attended a Colleton County High School Football game, the Band of Blue has wooed the audience with sneak previews of the show, “The Lost Boy.” According to Band Director Tom Finigan, “We are really excited about our first performance. They had a solid run. We still have a lot to do but we’re pleased. Got a lot to still add on and do.”

The Band of Blue has been working hard all week in preparation for their second competition for the Band of Blue will be held this Saturday September 30th as the Band of Blue host the 40th Annual Walterboro Band Classic. The Walterboro Band Classic will be held at Colleton County High School and is open to the public. Tickets for admission are $10.00 for adults and $6.00 for students. There will be 14 bands from around the Lowcountry that will be competing including the Band of Blue who will perform at 8:20 p.m.
The gates for the event will open at 12:30pm and the first band will perform at 2:00pm. The Band of Blue Booster Club will also be selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a yeti cooler. Come out and support the Band of Blue as they host the Walterboro Band Classic and show support for all of the hard work and dedication that has gone into planning this event for 40 years. The Band of Blue will also be showcasing new and exciting details that they will add to their performance of “The Lost Boy.”
