Back-to-School Bash set for Saturday

The Back-to-School Bash Committee will host the 5th Annual Back-to-School Bash Saturday at Colleton County High School Stadium on Highway 15 north near Walterboro from 9:00am to noon.

The event, sponsored by the Colleton County School District and the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office, will include a cookout, distribution of school supplies, door prizes, and give-a-ways to help parents and students start a new school year poised for success. Motivational Speaker Chris Brown will also speak at the event. Brown is a Walterboro native who graduated from Colleton County High School in 2005. He currently lives in Greenville and owns the Chris Brown Multimedia Group, which specializes in public relations, marketing, and advertising.

This event is open to students from grades K-12 and their parents. The parent’s attendance is mandatory. Colleges and universities, local organizations, and health agencies will be present to provide information and services to parents and children.

We would like your business to be a co-sponsor of this event by donating food products for the cookout, making a monetary donation to the Sheriff’s Office to help with the purchase of school supplies, or donating supplies. Last year, hundreds of students started the year with all required school supplies thanks to the generosity of our community partners.

It is important to help our children further their education during the 2012-2013 school year, and also to remind them that we believe each child is the seed of an ever brighter future for Colleton County. Please call 782-4522 or 908-4060 for donation information. Donations may also be dropped off at the Sheriff’s Office.

Additional Sponsor-Donors include: Woodforest Bank, located in the Walterboro Wal Mart; Direct General Insurance, 662 Bells Highway, Walterboro; Fred Harvey Mutual of Omaha Insurance in Walterboro; and Hudson Auto Brokers, 628 Bells Highway, Walterboro.

Pam Robertson, Danielle Strickland, and Tiffany Sweat of Robertson Insurance Agency are collecting school supplies. Hurry deadline for drop-off is Friday, Aug. 3.

Additionally, an “Equipped to Learn” school supply drive will be held Friday at the Robertson Insurance Agency at 804 Wichman Street from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m.“In these tough economic times, many families struggle to purchase school supplies for their children,” said business owner/agent Pam Robertson. “We all know that kids need adequate supplies to be successful in school, and you can help.” For further information, contact the Robertson Agency at 782-3609 or email robertsonagency@lowcountry.com.

Please join us.”

Lunch will be served from noon-2 p.m., and door prizes will be given out. “We appreciate your trust and your continued patronage. Also don’t forget this is the last day to contribute to our school supply drive. Donate and get a free snow cone.”
