2012 Rice Festival

The 37th annual Colleton County Rice Festival featuring arts and crafts, food, fireworks, music and live entertainment will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 27-29.

This popular event is filled with activities for the entire family. In a special pageant a young woman is crowned queen of the Rice Festival and takes her place of honor in the Rice Festival Parade as it meanders through downtown Walterboro.

A 5K run, rated one of the top races in South Carolina, is another signature event for the festival.

Downtown you will find an arts and crafts area with a wide array of handcrafted items, a food court with something for everyone, and live entertainers performing on the streets and in parking lots.

Rice Fesitval ParadeFor the kids, Planter the Clown will be back. Palmetto Amusement will be featuring mechanical rides, inflatables and games. South Carolina’s 2010 Magician of the Year, Gary Maurer, will be performing 2 magic shows daily on Friday and Saturday. As will be The Marvelous Mutts, a thrilling dog show with entertaining tricks, stunts, and athletic abilities, showcasing some of the world’s finest canine athletes adopted from shelters and rescues.

Add a few outdoor activities such as a mud bog, fireworks, live bands, a car show, and other entertainment, and you’ve got a weekend that will please everyone in the family.
